Walking the dog for charity

The Rolling Stones, 40 years ago belted out the lyrics of ‘Walking the dog’ through song and we are now adding onto that with much more meaning than just exercising your pooch!  For 23+ years the RSPCA has been raising money through the Million Paws Walk and Aussie Pooch Mobile has been there every step of the way to support animals in need!

This year was no exception with over 100 plus Aussie Pooch Mobile dog groomers giving their time to support animals in need. Our caring groomers raise money by conducting a major bath-a-thon at the Australia wide events each year. This means that your pooch can enjoy a bath before or after the walk and all proceeds go straight to the RSPCA. Did you and your furry friend attend this years Million Paws Walk? Make sure you check our Facebook page to see if we took a happy snap of your pooch getting a bath!

This year our caring Aussie Pooch Mobile groomers washed over 450 dogs and raised over $11,910 to support animals in need!
WOW, what an achievement! We are so proud of our team, their family & friends for volunteering their time.
A very big heartfelt thanks to you and your four pawed friends for also showing your support on the day.

When is the next Million Paws Walk?

If you and your four pawed friend missed out on this years Million Paws Walk, don’t fret. You can get involved and have a great day out next year as it is held every year on the third Sunday in May. TIP: Tickets are cheaper if you purchase them online.

Where does the money raised go?

It costs close to 50 million dollars each year to run the RSPCA’s services and they only receives 2% of this from the government. The extra money raised through fundraising, merchandise sales and activities on the day will help to provide essential care to support animals in need. Some of which includes:

  • Veterinary treatment
  • Food
  • Shelter
  • Desexing
  • Microshipping
  • Vaccinations
  • Community education on better animal care
  • On road inspectors

History of the Million Paws Walk

The very first Million Paws Walk was held in Queensland in 1994 by Dr Cam Day. Dr Cam believed that walking your dog for charity would not only raise much needed funds but would also promote responsible pet ownership by encouraging owners to exercise their dogs regularly. He believed a special charity event involving animals and their owners walking together would be a fun day out for everyone involved. And that it is! Since then the event has expanded and is now the RSPCA’s biggest fundraising event to support animals in need with 70 walks held across Australia each year. And what we’re so proud of is that our caring Aussie Pooch Mobile groomer’s show up at pretty much all of them!

History of Aussie Pooch Mobile and the RSPCA

Aussie Pooch Mobile has a long standing affiliation with the RSPCA and continues to be a dedicated sponsor of the charity. We are very proud of the money we have raised over the years for animals in need.

In fact, with the dedication of our team and the support of the public Aussie Pooch Mobile have now raised over $212,000 to date. Again, we could not have done this without you and your furry friends. So thank you!
